Shipping and Receiving Team Lead (First Shift Warehouse)

Job Purpose –  As a Supply Chain Shipping & Receiving Team Lead, you will be responsible for supervising Shipping & Receiving employees and assisting in managing 1st shift Distribution Center operations. Our Distribution Center is temperature controlled, ranging anywhere from 70 degrees in the ambient section to 40 degrees on the loading dock to 34 degrees in the cooler section to 0 degrees in the freezer section. This is a fast-paced position that requires great attention to detail, utilizing Biscuitville’s warehouse management system.

  • Expected to operate Shipping & Receiving category in Supervisors absence, and provide backfill for every Shipping & Receiving position.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of Operations by providing input to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.
  • Ensure DC staff are familiar with and working with safety and efficiencies as priorities.
  • Trains new team members on process for moving incoming and outgoing products throughout the distribution center.
  • Train and certify employees on material handling equipment.
  • Leading warehouse worker schedules and tasks using standard processes for optimal performance.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and support to our restaurants.
  • Coordinates with inbound carriers to assure proper service level.
  • Checks, verifies, and audits product to ensure that inbound orders are as ordered and not damaged or defective.
  • Identifies, separates, labels, and palletizes merchandise onto pallets.
  • Primary for Smallwares receiving, put away and replenishment as well as new restaurant smallware packages.
  • Replenishes pick areas as identified by replenishment reports and various requests for merchandise.
  • Fills merchandise orders from restaurants as needed.
  • Reports damages and/or vendor compliance issues to supervisor.
  • Partners with supervisor to resolve problems or discrepancies.
  • Member of the Distribution Center Emergency Response Team.
  • Serves as a communication bridge between shifts and categories.
  • Meets safety, productivity, and quality standards.
  • Perform all functions of inbound receiving.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
  • Forklift and pallet jack certified
  • Experience with an automated warehouse management system
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred: 

  • Foodservice Distribution or Warehouse experience (Strongly preferred)
  • Experience training employees on positions and systems
  • Experience working with Smartsheet or similar system (i.e. Google Sheets)
  • Created training topics for team (i.e. safety, health)
  • Able to clearly present information in team meetings

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous lifting of merchandise on a regular basis some as heavy as 75 pounds.
  • Continuous walking
  • May work at heights up to 20 feet above ground
  • Standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and pushing and pulling using hands and/or arms on a repetitive basis above and below the shoulder level
  • Exposure to dust and noise
  • Exposure to extreme cold, including freezers, coolers and refrigerators for long periods of time
